Alleva Billing

Payer ID and VOB eligibility for insurance companies

When adding or editing an insurance company under System Settings > Billing, you can now select a Payer ID from a dropdown of VOB-eligible payers. Once a valid Payer ID is selected, a new "Use for VOB" checkbox becomes available, letting that insurance be included in both manual and automatic verification of benefits. If a Payer ID is entered manually and isn't on the approved list, it will still save to the payer profile, but the "Use for VOB" option will be disabled. Default insurances continue to display their Payer ID in a read-only field.d, the Rendering Provider's taxonomy code is sent in Box 24j using the ZZ qualifier, and this can be viewed on the claim preview and claim worksheet.

External payments on insurance payment posting

The Edit Payment screen now includes an External Payments section for reconciling payments tied to claims that aren't in Alleva Billing. When an ERA is parsed, any claims it contains that don't match an existing claim are automatically added here, prefilled with the payer claim ID and payment amount. From there, you can either keep the entry as an external payment (for example, if the claim was documented in Waystar but not in Alleva) or search for the matching claim in Alleva Billing and apply the payment directly to it, removing the external payment once it's resolved. External payments are tracked as their own line in the reconciliation total, so the full remittance can balance against the check or deposit amount without creating placeholder claims.

Chart audits now available for discharged clients

Chart audits can now be run on discharged clients in addition to active clients. Previously, this was limited to active clients only, so this update lets you audit charts throughout the full client lifecycle.

Recurring cadence for policy-standard link reviews

PolicyIQ now supports setting a recurring cadence (weekly, monthly, or annually) for reviewing the link between a policy and a standard, instead of only a single, manually scheduled date. This makes it easier to keep policy-to-standard links current on an ongoing basis.
